When I held a Louisiana CCW it was required of the permit holder to tell police he or she was armed and had the permit. Even constitutional carry should have the same requirement for the law abiding to be forthcoming.
I really enjoy the BEC. However stop and frisk is patently unconstitutional. Since it looks like Constitutional Carry is going to be law in LA. stop and frisk seems to me that law abiding citizens could be harassed. It only takes a few bad actors in Nola law enforcement to turn this sideways.
US -vs- Arvizu from 2002 was a unanimous vote on the Supreme Court.
The tendency to presume stop and frisk will be only abused by a few bad apples is a persistent assumption that I'm addressing and pushing back against. I'm not advocating bad policing; I'm advocating effective policing. Safeguards, rules, body cameras... all are in place/can be in place.
To assume bad apples populate the police department is a Leftist talking point. I stand with the police. Stop and Frisk was incredibly effective in New York City... the data are tremendous.
Also, in past years, Constitutional Carry got bogged down in the state Senate after passing the House... we'll see how it goes; it may pass... we'll have to wait that out and watch the result. I'm agnostic on it; I often open carry and would be willing to continue to open carry.
The crime situation requires effective solutions. Will we allow the Left to set the terms and create those solutions? If we do, they'll try to take your guns from you before they try to take guns from people who will use them during a crime.
I do understand the points against this tactic; the discussion is healthy and I encourage it. Thank you for commenting... please continue the conversation.
I absolutely support the police. I am one of the lucky ones that can concealed carry legally because of my veteran status. Stop and frisk was very successful in NY. I'm just afraid a trip to the city could result in a an hour long detainment while the police search for a felony record. I prefer concealed carry for myself just to avoid conflict or making someone else uncomfortable. There are many angles to look at this from. There would definitely be a racial profiling backlash. But I will protect myself and family and probably anyone else in trouble. An armed society is a polite society.

Yes, and agreed! ALWAYS tell the cops you're carrying... never let them find it on you without letting them know first. Absolutely!

And I enjoy your reading of The BEC. Thank you.
