We Must Harden School Security
If all the cash sent to Ukraine had been spent securing our schools, three nine-year old children may still be alive today
Every school in the country must harden their security.
This nation spends trillions wastefully, throwing money at a virus (and having no effect), throwing money at Ukraine (without any connection to our national security). Billions have been wasted on high-speed train fiascos…. examples of wasteful spending go on and on.
And yet, elementary schools remain unhardened, unsecure soft targets.
First: We must end “GUN FREE ZONES.” It’s among the stupidest ideas anyone has ever come up with. Teachers who volunteer for training should be armed and their classrooms should be strategically located near entrances and exits for quick response when a shooter comes onto campus.
Second: Parents must INSIST that the Gun Free Zones are eliminated, and armed parents must volunteer as well. There are a great many people - all law-abiding gun owners - who are “Willing To Protect.”
Third: Initiate a security review and look for gaps or opportunities that can be exploited by someone looking to do harm to children. Seal up every gap.
Fourth: Erect fences where needed. Add magnetic security doors in key locations. Develop a routine of safety that is closely followed on a daily basis. All doors should lock automatically.
Fifth: Instead of “defunding” police, add to their funding specifically for school protection. Dedicate units to schools, or, create a division of the police department that works solely on school safety.
These must happen RIGHT NOW in EVERY SCHOOL.
Sixth: Pull your kids from school and homeschool your children if you possibly can, regardless of the sacrifices this entails otherwise.
Seventh: The schools themselves must stop contributing to the poor mental health of the students. STOP teaching them their gender is fluid. STOP sexualizing children. STOP teaching children they have no future because the surface of the planet will be unlivable by the time they graduate college. STOP teaching children the damaging lies that are very much at the root of these problems. STOP drugging children for everything under the sun.
Eighth: Allow for vouchers and school choice so that parents can choose MORE SECURE SCHOOLS over less secure schools for their children.
These steps are only a start, but we all have to start somewhere. And there is not a day to wait.
Finally: STOP blaming the gun for the mental illness of the shooter. That distraction serves no one. Guns are very downstream of the origin of these problems and to blame them as the cause is to avoid seeking the true causes of mass shootings.
