Homicide Victims: 59
Homicide in 2024 is -40% lower than 2023, -46% lower than 2022 and -19% lower than 2021.
To date, homicide in 2024 is +5% higher than 2020 and +40% higher than 2019.
Nonfatal Shooting Incidents: 95
Nonfatal shooting in 2024 is -39% lower than 2023 and -42% lower than 2022.
To date in 2024, the only increase in nonfatal shooting is noted in comparison with 2019 (+13%).
Incredible progress elsewhere…
Carjacking Incidents: 34
Carjacking peaked in 2022, when there had been 120 reported carjacking incidents as of May 12th.
There are fewer carjacking incidents in 2024 compared to each of the past 5 years: -49% lower than 2023, -72% lower than 2022, -68% lower than 2021, -40% lower than 2020, and -8% lower than 2019.
Armed Robbery Incidents: 94
Armed robbery continues to show double-digit rates of decline compared with the past five years:
Since 2019 -46%
Since 2020 -52%
Since 2021 -39%
Since 2022 -28%
Since 2023 -39%
Auto theft remains quite stubborn…
Auto Theft Incidents: 1,659
Since 2023, auto theft incidents have dropped -45%, though still +39% higher than 2022.
As of May 12, 2024, the 1,659 reported auto thefts indicate a rate of approximately 12 stolen vehicles per day.
