The "How-to" Guide For A Louisiana - And National? - Revival
We celebrate the Fourth of July with inspiration from Guest Writer Nathan Koenig
By: Nathan Koenig
The future prospects for Louisiana have looked dim for quite some time. Overwhelming crime, a stagnant economy, and a declining population are all symptoms of Louisiana’s decline in recent decades.
Decline is not inevitable. Decline is a choice.
Louisiana has the ingredients to become a successful state—abundant natural resources, a rich culture, access to the Mighty Mississippi, and a fairly religious/Conservative population. As a friend of mine once said, “Louisiana should be as rich as Dubai with all of our oil and energy production!”
Obviously, many issues abound regarding the current state of Louisiana —stemming from the State Legislature to New Orleans City Hall. However, Louisiana Conservatives need to create solutions to Louisiana’s dire situation. Many Conservative leaders in Louisiana tend to identify the issues with Liberal governance and progressive ideology without advocating an alternative vision. The uninspiring libertarian ethos permeates the rhetoric of many Republican/”conservative” politicians in Louisiana. The “go-along-to-get-along” attitude and the “leave me alone” mentality has failed Louisiana’s Conservative base.
Louisiana’s Conservative leaders must articulate a confident, clear-cut vision for our state. These five points are my “How-To Guide” for creating a much-needed a Louisiana Revival:
Revive the Family
Louisiana’s population is shrinking. As Hayride writer Paul Hurd pointed out in a recent article, Louisiana’s population is shrinking as most of the country is growing.
Obviously, a state cannot grow and flourish if the current population is not forming families and having children. The inability for a society to replace itself is a sure sign of a demographic winter and a gloomy future.
Louisiana needs to promote the creation of young families (a married father and mother) through pro-family legislation.
In the nation of Hungary, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has instituted pro-family policies that have improved Hungary’s low birth rate. Examples of Orbán’s policies include a lifetime exemption from personal income tax for women with at least four children and a loan program to support young families purchasing homes.
Of course, there are plenty of different ways to tackle Louisiana’s demographic issues. However, the State Legislature has done little to nothing to tackle this issue so far. The demographic issue is also interrelated to the other issues plaguing Louisiana. Solving some of the other issues listed in this article would likely have a tangible impact on improving Louisiana’s demographics.
Revive the Culture
While there are many virtuous, Christian people in Louisiana, the Culture War is still ongoing in Louisiana. Louisiana public schools and universities push LGBT indoctrination, DEI, and CRT. Public libraries shelve inappropriate children’s books and host Drag Queen story hours.
Conservatives can no longer play defense when it comes to the Culture Wars. To win the Culture Wars, Conservatives must start by taking back the educational system.
Louisiana students deserve a practical and patriotic education devoid of Cultural Marxist propaganda. Establishing an educational curriculum that promotes Christian virtue, our Western heritage, and practical skills—including reading, writing, and arithmetic—will play a huge role in turning the tide of the Culture War in the years to come.
Revive Prosperity
If you’ve lived in Louisiana for any period of time you are aware of Louisiana’s poor business environment, high crime, and inferior infrastructure.
Those three key issues are the bedrock of a prosperous society both in terms of economics and overall societal welfare. People will keep leaving Louisiana as long as these three issues remain unresolved. So, Louisiana’s leaders need to urgently fix the business environment, crime, and infrastructure of Louisiana first and foremost.
Revive Sovereignty
The Federal government is directly undermining the interest of Louisiana citizens. The Biden administration is allowing mass immigration from the Third World to flood the country. The FBI is targeting Conservatives—from President Trump to peaceful protestors.
The next Governor of Louisiana needs to push back against the Regime’s catastrophic policies — such as mass immigration, Big Tech collusion/censorship of Conservatives, ESG regulations, and more. It is high time for Louisiana to regain its Sovereignty from Deep State bureaucrats, globalist corporations, and the Biden administration.
Deporting illegal immigrants, fining Big Tech platforms for the wrongful censorship of private citizens, and decoupling the State’s finances from “Woke Capital” are a few ways to reinstitute Louisiana’s sovereignty.
Louisiana’s leaders must put the good, hard-working people of Louisiana first!
Revive Health
A lesser-discussed topic in Louisiana politics is the poor health of Louisiana residents. Louisiana residents rank as some of the least healthy people in the nation. In fact, Louisiana has one of the country’s highest obesity rates.
A significant contributor to the obesity crisis and general health crisis facing many Louisiana citizens is the food supply. Unfortunately, the FDA allows mega-corporations to sell food with extremely harmful ingredients. So, the state government needs to step in and prevent food companies from harming Louisiana citizens with seed oils, bleached flour, artificial food dyes, and other detrimental substances.
Besides improving the food supply, another key aspect of good health is physical exercise. Back in the 1960s, President Kennedy promoted the physical health of Americans by reinvigorating physical fitness in the American school system. Something similar needs to exist in Louisiana. Actual daily P.E. classes would be a good start.
Overall, these five points generally cover the most pressing issues that face the hard-working people and families of Louisiana.
This state needs a true revival spiritually, societally, and economically.
The time is NOW!
We all can play a part in kickstarting the “Louisiana Revival” this Fall — by helping elect authentic, America First Conservatives to the parish council, to the State Legislature, and to the Governor’s Mansion.
Note: We are so very grateful to Mr Koenig for sharing his thoughts. We also believe that the ingredients for a state revival would do well on the national stage, too!
Happy Independence Day Nathan and to everyone who reads The Big Easy Conservative!
God Bless Our Home, Louisiana and the United States of America !!!
