The BEC States A Position On Reparations And Generational Apologies

We’ve considered this question rather thoughtfully. And here, in this short post, we’ll express our view on this very lightning rod issue:
When black people demand reparations or an apology from white people, white people should demand that today’s black people assume the burden for all current and ongoing black crime. Law-abiding black people must not only apologize for the criminal activity that’s destroying urban living right now, but also pay for the consequences of that crime. Pay real money to white/all victims, administered by the government.
And I mean write checks… to the business owners whose buildings have been ruined; to the car owners whose windows have been smashed; to the drivers whose cars have been stolen at gun point; to the hospitals who provided medical care to victims and are now owed; to the families of the murdered; to the victims of crime who lived through the horror but will carry scars for life.
Today’s black people owe A LOT of money, right?
Wrong, actually. Wrong.
Today’s black people, as a group, are no more responsible for the actions of individuals - despite race - as today’s white people bear responsibility for slavery.
Reparations and apologies are not owed by groups to groups. We are all individuals, and there is where real apologies can happen, and only there.
Throughout this coming year, The BEC will be discussing race issues with a candor that’s rarely seen. We will, indeed, be hosting and participating in the long-called-for “national conversation” about “America’s Original Sin.”
We will not be coy in our positions.
We look out and see deeply unserious black urban leaders. This includes almost every black person who works in City Hall, and absolutely every black person in the mayor’s office and the City Council chambers. It includes the District Attorney and the Sheriff. It includes every Marxist/Maoist Malcomb Suber-wannabe who blames murder on statues and Short Term Rentals. It includes every teacher and principal in schools that teach Critical Race Theory and every black college professor teaching “Reparative Justice.” It includes every black Leftist who protests for abortion rights, too. It also includes every Leftist white ally.
The BEC has grown deeply troubled not only by the brutality of crime but by the undeniable foolishness of the black urban “leadership” clown show that has made everything for inner city black people worse over the decades.
We want justice for black people. REAL justice, meaning they should be living their lives without the fear of crime as much as anyone else; it is their God-given right!
