State Rep Mandie Landry Responds to The BEC, Prompts Davante Lewis To Reply That I Am A "Troll," Not A Citizen With Valid Questions
It's got a poetic symmetry
Writing an open letter to a newly-elected public service commissioner has made me a “troll” in the view of the person I’m encouraging to behave maturely. This is the assessment by Davante Lewis, beginning his six year term on the Louisiana Public Service Commission.
Never mind that I ask Mr Lewis his views on our state’s oil and gas industry. Ignore that I asked about the problem of documented slave labor in the cobalt mines of the Congo. Skim over the part where I ask how many acres of Louisiana farmland Mr Lewis would dedicate to solar panel farms and wind farms.
No… this is about pajamas… very nice matching pajamas with Davante’s dog!
The symmetry does not end there, friends, as Davante Lewis replied to me only because Mandie Landry, state representative, engaged with me on Twitter regarding her proposal to punish victims who have their car broken into and a gun is taken.
She defended her proposal to me on Twitter and in the process looked at this substack and saw the open letter to Mr Lewis, whereupon she posted this:
Never mind that such a penalty would disincentivize people from reporting the theft to the police — meaning: even more window-smashing thieves will break into more cars looking for more guns because the event will go unreported as people will, reasonably and predictably, wish to avoid being fined for their fears that prompt traveling with a gun to start with.
Somehow - either because Ms Landry informed Mr Lewis, or Mr Lewis saw this on his Twitter feed (we think it’s the former), Mr Lewis responded with the above “troll” commentary.
I used the occasion to ask him questions: all still unanswered.
So…. in the end we’ll get no questions answered by a commissioner and we’ll get crime-inducing legislative proposals from a state representative.
Welcome to Louisiana!
Signed,
Your Happy “Troll”
