Solar/Wind/Battery Will Not And Cannot Ever Power Our Society - Investing In Them Is A Waste of Money and Precious Land Resources
Only in some limited circumstances might they make sense, but not at scale
Last week’s Public Service Commission meeting included a presentation on “renewables” to the PSC from the governor’s task force on climate change, pushing hard for solar, wind, and battery power, while mentioning nuclear power NOT ONCE.
The safest form of power production ever invented, and one that emits no carbon - that evil carbon! - is always ignored because of a Jane Fonda movie from 1979.
Governor Edwards has targeted 2050 for a “net zero” Louisiana and - I hope you’re sitting down for this - state leadership presumes that solar and wind will power Louisiana’s heavy industries, the greatest contributors to our state’s carbon emissions.
Remember that federal and state leaders want to electrify everything, which can’t happen but that won’t slow their efforts. They presume spinning razor blades in the sky and chemically-coated sheets of glass can power all the things, which is literally impossible.
They’ll insist we must switch to solar and wind because of weather extremes, which makes no sense! If weather is the problem, how are weather-reliant power production systems any answer?
It all makes no sense, but you and I are on the hook for TRILLIONS of dollars for “green energy” solutions to a “climate crisis.”
The head of the US Geologic Survey compared carbon levels to what they’d be in the absence of human beings on the planet as part of her presentation before the PSC. Think about that a moment. It is a fully anti-human presumption.
Here are some of the slides presented in the PSC meeting:
The panel presenting to the PSC made the point that here in Louisiana the “main culprit” on carbon emissions is heavy industry. They believe that solar and wind can provide power and heat to our industries; they made no mention of nuclear power as a carbon emission-free source.
The panel also lauded Carbon Capture and Storage programs - like the $603 million project coming to Louisiana (all federally funded.) I describe CCS this way:
A carbon capture project here in Louisiana does nothing to reduce emissions elsewhere. It is a downright foolish waste of money and poses a true threat to the environment while enriching a chosen few. (The prominent Stream family will be the benefactors of this largesse.)
Interestingly, despite Davante Lewis’ very public stance against the CCS program, he said nothing in opposition to it during the meeting. And Eric Skrmetta, who has hosted a lecture about nuclear power, made no mention of nuclear in the PSC meeting.
We will never, and can never, eliminate fossil fuels, which are essential to maintaining the modern era. The world needs more fossil fuels to elevate the standard of living for billions living below the poverty line around the world.
The progression of power production moves toward nuclear, but federal and state officials are too timid in pushing SMRs and full-scale facilities.
“Electrify everything” will, simply put, “Ruin everything.”
Push against this with all you got!
