"Open Carry Saturday" and the hashtag: #WillingToProtect

My idea is general at this point: A designated day, like a Saturday, when law-abiding gun owners throughout Southeast Louisiana open carry their firearm. To the grocery store, the gas station, the Home Depot, the dog park.
Highlighting the fact that good people with guns keep others safe, I’d like to promote this with the hashtag: #WillingToProtect
We’ll identify a good day and promote the heck out of it through social media and all other channels.
It would be best if it’s a day with generally not much else going on. We’d highlight stories of good people stepping up and protecting the vulnerable. We’d also work to show the dangerous configuration created by “Gun Free Zones,” which in reality are considered “Free Fire Zones” by murderous people. “Sitting Duck Zones” are a bad idea.
We all have the right to be safe, to feel safe, to “see” safe, if you will.

I like the activism aspect of it. But, I personally wouldn't want to carry openly. It could make you a target for criminals. Counter-ambushing is the key to dealing with actual threats as criminals will always have the advantage of setting the time and place.
Everyday if my open carry day. Sometimes it's not so open.
