PSC Commissioner-Elect Davante Lewis Ignores Issue of Slave Labor Mining Cobalt in The Congo...
"There is NO 'Clean Cobalt'"
Performing a great service, Joe Rogan recently hosted activist Siddharth Kara, who has visited cobalt mining facilities in his effort to highlight the literal slave conditions endured by thousands - including children - in The Congo, source of three-quarters of the World’s cobalt.
Needed in every rechargeable battery, there is no “clean cobalt,” as it all goes into the supply chain at the mining/processing level and works its way through until you hit the power button on your iPhone.
Mr. Lewis wants Louisiana powered by battery-dependent renewables within a decade. We wonder if the problem of slavery will slow his aspirations?
Surely the justice-driven Commissioner-Elect is appalled to learn of these working conditions. In an effort to ally with him, The BEC has reached out for comment through Twitter, with no reply. We asked if he will call for a moratorium on installation of any/all Renewable Energy hardware until the slave conditions are remedied.
Crickets.
Remember that out-of-state money purchased Davante’s seat on the Public Service Commission for a cool million and a half dollars… at least. Davante and his Leftist Transgressive Activist supporters spent about $30 per vote.
The dude’s gotta deliver the goods, no? So The BEC will hold its collective breath while we wait for Mr Lewis to “stand for the people” and “promote justice” and “end slavery.”
Davante is a windbag of ego-infused hot air who will accomplish little of substance while breaking the energy grid we all rely on. And he’ll ignore slave conditions for black and brown people in the process.
Every aspect of Leftist thought rests on contradictions.
Addendum:
Mr Lewis this afternoon retweeted a post about “slaves” at Southwest Airlines. You are not misreading this. For 24 hours, The BEC has sought comment from Davante about the real slave labor working cobalt mines in the Congo, cobalt used in powering Mr Lewis’ renewable dreams for Louisiana. He ignores our requests while posting about “slave” at a major airline. The employees cannot call out sick without a doctor’s note and can’t switch shifts short notice, which constitutes “slavery” to Davante Lewis.
Well, in his defense, he’s got to do what his masters tell him to do. They expect a return on that $30 per vote. Might be better to look at who those “outside investors” are since he’s just the puppet in front of the cameras.
