Progressive Woke Activist Davante Lewis Cannot Be Allowed Anywhere Near Your Electricity
The "Equity" Candidate for Louisiana Public Service Commission Wants to Destroy the Fossil Fuel Industry Vital to Louisiana's Economy
Eighteen-year Public Service Commission incumbent Lambert Boissiere hardly inspires an enthusiastic endorsement from The BEC. His is one of those “political families” that seem all-too influential here; the Morials and the Landrieus come to mind. Boissiere accepts lots of campaign contributions from the very industries he regulates, which isn’t at all cool. He’s something of a parasite and we’re unimpressed, to say the least.
Governor Jon Bel Edwards and Democrat Congressman Troy Carter endorse Boissiere. He’s gotten the nod from the AFL-CIO, Louisiana Democrats, The Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of New Orleans, and the Independent Women’s Organization. On his campaign website, he genuflects to “renewables” as any Democrat must do these days.
As we said: parasite.
But he is not Davante Lewis.
The BEC attended a Zoom meeting with Lewis tonight and heard first-hand that he believes “a transition to 100% renewable energy in Louisiana can happen before 2035.” So in a mere decade, this Leftist dreamer enamored with the idea of “renewables” will set about dismantling an electricity grid built for fossil fuels and in the process threaten the very core of the economy of our state.
“Utilities are a human right.” … Davante Lewis
Lewis discussed his background, which included time as “a student activist” and, for five years, an elementary school teacher. He quoted “Charles Dickinson” who wrote “the best of times; the worst of times,” and currently works as the Director of Public Affairs and Outreach for the Louisiana Budget Project, a Baton Rouge advocacy group whose website is littered with more “equity” references than The BEC can count.
Lewis feels highly motivated to sit on the five-person commission not least because he sees two seats held now by pro-renewable commissioners. His election would secure a majority and would set this fossil-fuel-dependent state on the path to energy poverty and environmental vulnerability. He readily repeats the lies that “renewables” will “lower costs for low-income families” and that renewables will reverse the impact of climate change.
He has received half a million dollars in funding from the “Keep the Lights On PAC” which is closely associated with the radically Leftist Environmental Defense Fund.
He racializes every point. He’s fluent in the language of “environmental justice” and “equity.” He lists his pronouns as “he/him/y’all.” “Passion without action is a wasted emotion” he says, all mixed within sentences filled with “living wage,” “fair and just,” and “progressive.”
He will be the AOC of the Louisiana Public Service Commission if elected.
Hold you nose and vote for Lambert Boissiere on December 10th. The alternative will be catastrophic.
We see Lambert Boissiere as the “more of the same” candidate, which itself is nothing appealing. We’ve all reeled from higher electric bills, but we also recognize that the larger, national dynamics of Democrat policies are very much the source of the increases; Lewis is mindless of these influences, pinning the increased costs for energy on corporate Entergy greed.
We appreciate that Lewis has elevated the issue of campaign contributions from industries that come before the commission. His other views, however, disqualify him from consideration for the Louisiana Public Service Commission.
Please vote on December 10th for the lesser abhorrent candidate, Lambert Boissiere.
That is probably the finest political endorsement I’ve ever heard. 😂
