UPDATED: New Orleans District Attorney Jason Williams Is A Clear and Present Danger To The Public
Black people elect him while black Democrats who run this town support him
I would both misrepresent and compliment Jason Williams to describe him as incompetent. Quite the opposite, Jason Williams is doing exactly what black Democrats in New Orleans elected him to do: keep criminals out of jail and on the streets.
The problem is not only Democrat-made, however.
One would think (or hope) with such demonstrable failures of leadership around here that the Republican Party could provide answers. But no, of course not. So this can’t be a story of only Williams’ failures. The absent and lame Republicans own this problem, too.
The fact that local Republicans have ceded all ground to Democrats is an embarrassment to them - and it’s why this substack is not called “The Big Easy Republican.”
I still cannot tell you if a Republican Party exists in Orleans Parish; if it does, it’s so utterly useless that I’ll have nothing to do with them.
Republicans have failed the people of New Orleans by default; Democrats have failed the people of New Orleans with intention. Both ways, we’ve been failed.
So where does this leave all of us?
Vulnerable.
Especially to people like 19 year old Keddrick Butler, Jr.
NOPD have arrested Butler multiple times. DA Williams has refused to press charges.
Twitter-Friends-of-The-BEC lay it out plain:
From last year… “charges have been refused in this matter prior to today’s court date.”
And just last month….
Make no mistake: the decline of New Orleans is deliberate and District Attorney Jason Williams is the tip of the spear in this effort.
