I Just Got Off The Phone With Judge Simone Levine
New Orleans: You made the right choice when you elected her
Friends…
A few months ago, voters of New Orleans chose Simone Levine as criminal court judge.
I just spoke with the judge on the phone… for 31 minutes on a Friday night well after 8:00 pm. She invited me to speak with her because I had texted her earlier with a reference that had ticked her off a bit… and rightly so in hindsight.
See, I attended her swearing in. And Jason Williams spoke at her swearing in. In my text, I presumed too much about any connections between herself as a judge and the DA, about whom I have only negative feelings.
Judge Levine could have shoved me off, ignored me, discredited me, insulted me, sent me some emoji.
Hardly that, she invited me to call her about the misunderstanding… about my presumption. And we spoke for 31 minutes.
She is fair. She is kind. She is wise. She is smart as a whip. And nothing - nothing - gets past her.
She knows the DA is a political force; she fully understands.
She’s more upstream than all of us combined.
Friends, you did good.
Trust this judge. She’s working hard for you.
I have been touched in such a meaningful way by the power of a person, who, thank God, is also a judge in our criminal courts.
Thank you Judge.
