Home Defense Foundation Brings Their Impressive Record of Success To Bear on the State's Recall Laws
Will be travelling to Baton Rouge later this month to petition legislators, and The BEC community members are invited and encouraged to join this effort
Home Defense Foundation cofounders Mike Weinberger and Jeff Crouere have announced that they are turning their group’s impressive influence toward the much-needed reform of Louisiana’s recall laws.
We all witnessed the effort to recall New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell. In the process, many of us learned what we likely weren’t fully aware of: 1) the voters rolls are poorly maintained almost everywhere, and 2) a successful recall can require a greater number of citizen signatures than votes cast in the original election of the recalled politician.
This problem needs resolution, and the Home Defense Foundation is taking it on.
We will be headed to Baton Rouge to apply pressure to legislators on this very important matter. And not only are you encouraged to attend, but there’s a great incentive, too.

We will be going to BR either Tuesday April 25 or Wednesday April 26, and as usual we will carpool at Lakeside Shopping Center in the early AM - or you can drive right to BR and meet us there early (8:30AM). And you MUST be there on time, wearing a red or purple shirt to enter the raffle (we will have extra T Shirts).
Be on the lookout for more details later but clear these 2 mornings and I will tell you the final date as soon as I know it. I think we will have another day of GREAT WINS in the legislature !
As more details come in, we’ll be letting you all know immediately. Please consider taking the ride to Baton Rouge with us on either Tuesday April 25th or Wednesday the 26th: the date is not yet determined. The moment we learn when these issues will be brought up in committee, we’ll send out word.
