Gripping Body Cam Footage of Deputy Entering a Retention Pond To Save Toddler
The Officer Does Not Know How To Swim, But Never Hesitated
The Jacksonville Florida Sheriff’s Office this week released body cam footage on their Facebook Page of the rescue and resuscitation of a tiny toddler who had made his way into a retention pond in the center of a large apartment complex.
“Where’s the baby at? Where’s the baby? Where? Where? Where’s he at?”
Officer Me’Atia Sanderson can’t swim but she sprinted to help regardless. Officer Sanderson threw herself, gear and all, immediately into the pond to search for the child.
Not alone on scene, a maintenance worker and at least one other resident also helped. The baby was retrieved, and it was Officer Sanderson who administered CPR until paramedics arrived. One cannot help but feel struck by the size of the small child’s chest. He was in very serious condition, though alive, after the event.
On this Thanksgiving Weekend, The BEC commends safety officers who place themselves at risk every moment of every day.
It’s often a thankless job, and frankly, the Left looks to demonize police every chance they get, even if they have to fake the circumstances to do it. Not so here….
The BEC thanks every uniformed responder who selflessly places the lives of others over their own.
