Exhibiting the Ugliness of CRT While Promoting the Teaching of It, JP Morrell Traps Himself With Thin-Thinking CRT Rhetoric
We have to believe JP is too nice a guy to believe his own assertions
Failing intellectual systems make for bloody and nasty circumstances. We see those circumstances - and consequences - in the murderous streets of New Orleans, in low proficiency rates of high school graduates, in the erosion of general civility, and in the deconstruction of essential institutions.
Critical Race Theory is one such failing intellectual system. Despite its obvious failures, it enjoys popularity among a certain set of people, New Orleans City Council President JP Morrell included.
In the evening of 22 February, Morrell took to Twitter to speak to the idea being floated about, especially by Marjorie Taylor Greene, that America “needs a divorce.”
Firstly, the “passive aggressive whitewashing of Civil War positioning” is non sequitur.
What troubles the bec is what comes next for JP.
Thoughtlessly, Mr. Morrell presented “woke” not descriptively of itself but as a characteristic of people with certain beliefs: Woke people value black and brown people as humans and, it goes without saying, the un-woke do not value black and brown people as humans.
CRT itself reinforces the woke notion of Supremacy of Wokeness. In other words, JP Morrell puts the ugliness of CRT on full display while advocating its teaching!
The City Council President can make an assertion this nasty, this pejorative, and get away with it… because people accept the destructive and divisive tenants of CRT!
Critical Race Theory has corroded educational systems across the country; JP wants more of that.
Democrat Party guiding principles have dominated New Orleans urban policy for generations, wrecking havoc of the people of the city, especially its black majority; JP wants more of that.
Crime, abortion, fatherless homes and lost souls… all are the consequences of failed Democrat leadership: JP wants more of all that, too.
The BEC has news for Council President Morrell: We are not woke! We’re all proudly not woke! We absolutely deeply and dearly value black and brown people as humans!
We are a community of like-minded people now embedding itself into the local political landscape, JP, and you’ll be hearing a lot from us in the coming year.
The most needed divorce is one people like JP Morrell are too cowardly to initiate: the black community must divorce itself from Critical Race Theory, a breakup that can’t come soon enough for the benefit of the very community CRT now so viciously harms, the black citizens of New Orleans for whom we advocate.
