Voters from New Orleans upriver to Baton Rouge can enjoy a refreshing option this year, an indulgence if you will, as they ponder their vote for the United States House of Representatives: a distinct choice.
With two in the race, voters can pull the lever for a father and husband who affirms there are two genders… for a fair-minded citizen who sees the essential need to defend the Southern border… someone who upholds the rule of law and who wishes to limit the government’s invasive nature… a responsible man with his own concealed carry permit.
Or they can vote for Troy Carter.
Indeed, voters can this year choose Mr. Dan Lux to represent Louisiana District Two.
It is not only a very welcomed choice but, challenging the assumptions about “unwinnable” races, Dan Lux can very well win this matchup. Overflowing with better ideas than his opponent, this candidate can defeat the incumbent… with your vote, Dan Lux can represent you in Congress.
Though The BEC will not endorse individual candidates — we are here for all the Conservative voices and will offer our platform to everyone — in this race the endorsement is de facto. We have a chance to remove Troy Carter from office!
District Two is very much in play for the Republican candidate. The mood of the electorate is open to Conservative ideas; the disasters of the Left provide opportunities. This is a winnable race for Dan Lux.
The BEC has appreciated meeting Dan three times now, most recently for a sit-down interview to hear from the candidate on views, news, and issues going into the November 8 election. We spoke in Algiers Point.
Sharply dressed and tightly organized, Dan Lux has lived on the New Orleans Westbank for six years, this after 30 years in the California entertainment and film/TV industry.
He is at ease while vibrant; energized ideas freely flow in our conversation.
We held a “Lightning Round” of questions:
Q: How many genders are there? A: Two Q: Can men have babies? A: No, biological men cannot have babies Q: Is the planet burning up into ashes? A: No Q: Is the answer to Covid the shutting down of people's lives? A: No Q: Do law abiding citizens have the right to own guns? A: [after a thoughtful pause] That's a bit of a weighted question, because there may be some people who are law abiding that have mental health issues who probably should not own a gun, right? So, I think I would say 'yes,' I'm a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment -- in fact I just recently got my concealed carry -- but I think there are some situations where I think you'd want to try to keep the gun out of the hands of someone who hasn't necessarily broken the law but has other issues in which they shouldn't be carrying a gun. Q: So if someone is law abiding but insane they should not be carrying a gun? A: I don't see that you would want them to have a gun. Q: Do you support a global minimum tax, as proposed by the Biden Administration as a way to prevent companies from seeking out preferred nations to set up corporate headquarters, to avoid higher-taxing nations? A: I'm totally against that Q: Dan Lux, are you a "terrorist or domestic extremist"? A: [deep hearty laugh!] It depends on who you ask!!! Maybe in the eyes of the Department of Justice I am. Q: Is the Southern border secure? A: No, absolutely not. All indicators show otherwise.
On Energy
“I don’t know a single person who wouldn’t prefer clean energy to energy that causes pollutants into the environment… not a single person. But at the same time, you have to be rational about the needs of energy in the society that we live in.”
He brings up the issues happening now in California: banning gas-powered vehicles while also asking people not to charge up their EVs during peak hours of the day. This makes no sense to Dan Lux. “Add to the grid 95% electric vehicles… it’s going to come crashing down!”
“I’m all for renewable energy, it just has to be done with logic and common sense.”
Q: Do you see the Federal Government having a legitimate role mandating solar/wind/battery? A: No. The market has to drive it, not the government.... EVs... I don't think this utopian view of all vehicles going electric is going to happen. I see promise in hydrogen fuel...
On The Size of Government and Deficits
"It's been too big for decades now." The size of government is way beyond what it needs to be, he said. "We're at unsustainable levels right now."
He advocated for the broad reduction of Federal agencies. "It's not just Federal either," he emphasized.
The politicians celebrate "saving" ten billion dollars.
But ten billion is insignificant in relation to thirty trillion dollars.
On His Role in the US House
“No one person is going to be a game-changer; it’s going to need a group of like-minded individuals who really want to change what’s happening, and work together collectively to implement that change. We’re seeing a lot of that across the country.
“I’ve never run for public office, I’ve never held a public office, so I’m learning as I go. But I know what my values are, what my principles are, and I know that I function with a sense of integrity and common sense.”
“I can be the voice that identifies these issues… creating the pressure to make that change.”
On President Joe Biden
… and the infamous “Blood Red” Speech, when Joe Biden said we “hold a dagger to the throat of our democracy.”
“What he said was very disturbing, but not surprising. It solidified and validated what I thought about this president before he became president.”
“The level of corruption and compromise that he has, with all his dealings, in his entire political career. He’s compromised by the CCP, the Russians…”
On J6
“What we had in the 2020 election was significant fraud. Significant evidence, mountains of evidence, of a stolen election. People came together and they presented this evidence all across the country. And they were laughed at, they were ridiculed, and mocked, they were told ‘you’re lying the Biggest Lie’ and that created a lot of anger. I don’t see Trump’s speech as what lit the fuse on that anger. I see the way people have been mocked and disrespected as what lit that fuel, and that’s coming from the Left.
“When you actually look at all the footage, not just the footage that the media wants you to see, you’ll see that it wasn’t angry MAGA voters that started the riot. They were intentionally prompted into doing this. You can see the video, there were barriers like you see along the parade route, probably a hundred yards away from the Capitol, and for no reason whatsoever - everyone was staying back, nobody was climbing all over these barriers - they moved them to within about 50 feet. And they invited people… ‘come on in, come closer’ so of course, people go closer. And they starting shooting mace at people, and what are you supposed to do? Just stand there? So they started fighting back. The cameras capture people fighting back, but they don’t show why they were fighting back.
“Someone dressed in black. Now, you go to a thousand Trump rallies, nobody’s dressed in black. You go to one ANTIFA rally, and everyone’s dressed in black! He starts smashing the window down, and it’s the Trump people trying to pull him out.
The Capitol Police open the doors, they invite people in. People are asking, ‘Is it okay to come in?’ And they say, ‘yeah, come on in.’ And then they get arrested for misdemeanor trespassing? It’s nuts!
“The only person killed on that day was Ashlee Babbitt. I watched that video over and over and over again. She was murdered. Should she have been in there? Probably not… but you don’t murder someone! Nobody was at threat…. Why are you inviting people into the building if there’s so much danger to these political leaders?”
Words From the Candidate…
“District Two voters not only are not getting the results they want, they’re getting a decline, a decline in their safety, in their business opportunities, in their quality of life.
“So I’m asking people to change how they vote, to give somebody that is not part of the political establishment, that is not a career politician, an opportunity to make things different. I’m coming from a place of genuine concern.
“I have enormous pride in my honesty, my truthfulness, my ability to do things with logic and common sense, and my integrity. I think I can do a better job than what we currently have, and I’d like that opportunity, and I’m hoping the voters will give me a chance to do it.”
