Mid-City New Orleans brewer issues "deeply sorry" apology across social media

Mid-City’s Second Line Brewing very nearly committed an unforgivable offense this week…

… an offense so hurtful and damaging to community standards that the owners have issued a “deeply sorry” social media-blasted apology.

… an offense that, had it not been averted at the last minute, might have caused some to wonder if the owners could be, dare we say it, conservatives. Might they be secret MAGA sympathizers?

… and offense that there’s no coming back from, that would have sealed the deal on the nine-year old brewing establishment, would have shut the book on the place.

I hope you’re sitting down as you read this - and don’t allow the children to see this, or they may be lost forever.

But Second Line Brewers very nearly hosted a group of CATHOLICS.

Yes… CATHOLICS.

A bit more insight into this dastardly group… this from someone involved in the group and responded to the apology on the brewery’s Facebook page:

This fundraiser was in support of an organization that supports families and children. Yes, it is a pro-life organization, but also an organization that provides support and counseling to women REGARDLESS of their pregnancy decision. The organization itself serves a diverse community and has a diaper bank where families with babies and toddlers can receive much needed diapers, wipes, and other items MONTHLY for as long as there is a need. How is that a bad thing??

She clarified some points with an additional post:

This was an event (not a fundraiser) asking anyone WANTING to attend to bring diapers and baby items to be given to families needing them. Again, how is THIS controversial?

The brewery agreed to host the event and approved the promotional material before it was distributed. I get they faced backlash and cancelled the event because of it. But why say they were mislead??

After all is said and done, the fact remains that there are many families in the community who need these items desperately and this program helps to meet those needs.

Isn’t this just horrible? Bring diapers to the event and get a second entry for door prizes!

A “Pro-Life Happy Hour”? Perish the thought!

The popular Mid-City brewpub Second Line Brewing is no longer hosting a controversial event outside organizers dubbed “Pro Life and Pints,” and owners say they were initially duped without understanding the nature of the event. 

In an Instagram post that has since been removed, Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans promoted an upcoming, private get-together at the brewery for young adults to come out and “support the pro-life cause.”

A $20 cover fee included two beers, in addition to food, prizes and “special guest speakers” from the Sisters of Life, a devout anti-abortion institute, according to the post.

The post sparked outcry from local residents, who are overwhelmingly in favor of reproductive rights despite the state's sweeping abortion ban. Some claimed they would even be boycotting the brewery.

But the event also came as a shock to its owners, who have carved out a niche as a welcoming neighborhood spot known for game nights, craft beer tastings and other casual get-togethers, in addition to hosting private events.

While this event squarely appeared to focus on the staunch anti-abortion sentiments of the church, Catholic Charities does regularly host events throughout the area focusing on other issues, including providing resources and donations for immigrants and people in poverty.

Since the brewery was threatened with Leftist boycotts IF THEY HAD ALLOWED THE GROUP TO MEET, our reply should be to:

BOYCOTT SECOND LINE BREWING

They boast of diversity… but not for Catholics. Of inclusion… as long as Catholics are not included. Of equality… while Catholics are clearly not “equal” with atheists, abortionists, and Democrats.

This “Women-, Veteran-, and Minority-owned business” doesn’t want you. They hate you. They loathe you. You are the basket of deplorables to them.

Because they are DIVERSE you are not welcome.
Because they are INCLUSIVE you are to be expelled.
Because they value EQUALITY they don't want YOUR money.

So let’s not give them your money. Not a single penny.

And feel free to let them know!

It’s across the street from the Delgado main campus on City Park Avenue. Avoid it! Get some beers elsewhere!

We have to stop supporting the people who hate us, who, if they knew our values, would happily make an example out of us and kick us conspicuously out of their establishment. We must deny our support to those who despise us for our values.

We have to spend our money between ourselves, supporting one another.

This cannot stand unanswered.
