Beware the Dustin Granger Candidacy for State Treasurer
We expect Granger and the Democrat Party to use the Davante PSC playbook
“It’s time for a better Louisiana, the Louisiana of the future. And here’s how we make it happen, through an elected office you might not expect: our state treasurer.
Let me explain…”
Dustin Granger, outlining the strategy for Democrat Party control over the state’s investment portfolio
Team Granger, Team Lewis and the state Democrat Party will read appreciatively and approvingly of this post, signaling the concern we all should feel about the candidacy of Dustin Granger to the office of State Treasurer.
He will compete for the position. His message has timely appeal to Leftists and moderates; he seeks to win over independents - and can - and he’ll tap into the bottomless cash pit that is today’s Democrat Party Dark Money Network, the same Pot ‘o Gold that placed Davante Lewis onto the Public Service Commission with $2MM in almost all out-of-state backing.
Parallels exist between the Granger and Lewis candidacies, and none of this is lost on the Democrat Party.
‘Big Renewable’ will back him. The Leftist environmental groups will back him. His message will resonate with students; he’ll have no trouble gathering volunteers for door knocking. He will tap into momentum, will paint his opposition as “deniers,” and he’ll woo anyone reasonably worried about coastal erosion, the drop in speckled trout, and the resiliency of the state against the powers of Mother Nature, reminded to us all with every near-hitting named storm.
He will make his point. They will hear it.
And like Davante Lewis, the radical Left will Trojan Horse into our state government an agenda-driven functionary with outsized power; the treasurer in Louisiana holds the state’s actual money, makes the investment decisions. Pulls $800MM from Blackrock, for example.
Or, if Granger, invests $800MM in Democrat neodreams, in ‘Big Renewable’ Best-Of-All-Worlds state backing of an industry now more deeply rooted in the state’s governmental infrastructure.
The Democrats are building an action-animated structure within the state government. With Lewis providing anchor, Leftists purchased one-fifth of six years of energy industry regulatory predictability. With Granger, they’ll also hold the pen floating over the state’s check book.
Dustin Granger seems like a totally OK kind of guy.
He’s a father, a husband, and a financial planner living in Lake Charles. And he cut a slick commercial, too, with lots of slow motion and string swells. Kids at the playground. We’re not kidding. It’s effective:
Granger finishes that strategy message from above…
Let me explain:
“Every year when you pay your taxes part of that money is handed to the treasurer who takes that money and invests it into stocks and major projects like energy plants, factories, and flood protection. We can invest backwards like our current treasurer, pumping billions more into Big Oil while banning all environmental investments… or, we can embrace the technologies of the future and invest in a new Louisiana energy revolution, with renewable infrastructure projects that bring sustainable high-paying jobs. It’s a vision for Louisiana based on reality, not political ideology or back room deals.”
He makes a compelling argument to casual listeners. Who could object to high-paying jobs and sustainability?
…the treasurer takes that money and invests it into major projects like energy plants…
…we make it happen through an elected office you might not expect: our state treasurer.
Never mind that his vision is ideologically driven. Never mind that ‘renewables’ don’t renew. Never mind that ‘Big Oil’ owns almost all of ‘Big Renewable.’ Never mind that Granger would simply turn the spigot of government incentives toward a new revenue stream for the oil industry, who see this as an expansion opportunity, with ever-better state-sanctioned, regulated, and mandated ways to do business that make Big Oil wealthier than ever.
Thank you Democrats, pushing the ersatz power production layer that will always depend upon...

Solar/Wind/Battery
The BEC challenges the repeated (bipartisan) talking point: “I’m an all-of-the-above energy advocate! Let’s allow the free market to determine the better energy sources!”
The renewable suite can’t work. Creating ever-more heavy industry in the race to reduce carbon seems downright stupid to us.
And there is no ‘free market’ in the energy industry.
How can the construction of thousands upon thousands of these reduce carbon emissions? There cannot be anything that is ‘zero carbon emitting’ or ‘carbon neutral.’ Note that this video begins with dynamite!
Back to Mr. Granger, with whom we exchanged some messages we’ll share with you all.
Granger:
Louisiana better WAKE UP to disaster to state finances by the elimination of the income tax. This will create a massive budget crisis leading to major cuts in services and tax increases on the majority of citizens.
the bec:
Income taxes are unjust for everyone. Eliminate them, even if there are hard consequences in their unwinding. Deal with it. Create a new state constitution if needed. But we must be rid of income taxes... state and federal both. Deeply unjust taxation that hurts us all.
So you’re one of those zero tax and everything’s fine guys, huh?
He apologized in a very kind way when I asked him not to go ‘ad hominem’ in a discussion about taxes. He seems a sincere man. All credit to him.
You’re right. I apologize for that. Thank you for respectfully calling me out on it.
In another exchange, the bec brought up Davante Lewis’ unprecedented haul in the PSC election.
The funding you hold against him is the norm with republicans who hold most of the offices. One time Dem gets a little help.
Keep on the watch not only for their candidates but for the strategies the Democrats employ in accomplishing their ‘energy revolution.’ Dustin Granger is a compelling candidate. Davante Lewis established a winning precedent.
Challengers must bring a clear message about state priorities vis-a-vis the energy sector.
The race for state treasurer is as determinative this year as the race for governor.
And to be clear on our stance:
The answer for electricity production is nuclear, not solar/wind/battery.
