Armed Robbery Shows the Greatest Rate of Increase (+39%) Relative to 2021. MCC Weekly Crime Statistics Released as of 18th December
We Will Caution Everyone: Don't Blame Only the Mayor.
The Metropolitan Crime Commission is out with their weekly look at crime statistics, sobering and somber as that may be.
The change from 2019 to 2022 in homicide: +128%. Carjackings: +169%.
The crime spreads from “bad guys shooting bad guys” to “bad guys randomly shooting good people” which frightens everyone. As highlighted by the MCC: “A 15-year-old freshman from McMain High School was gunned down Wednesday afternoon in a car on St. Bernard Avenue. He is at least the 25th juvenile homicide victim of 2022.”
This problem is far more than any mere mortal mayor can fix. To that end, and to tease a bit of what we’re working on here at The BEC:
The Pelican Institute put out a trash report on crime - it’s inexcusably derelict -while chiding everyone to be very serious about “data.” When we questioned them, they dodged and darted, this after having ignored previous attempts by The BEC to feature The Pelican Institute earlier in the year.
Leftist, often racially-motivated organizations like “VOTE,” pressure elected officials to open the jails and prisons, because, you know…. “justice.” They share totally in the blame for the city’s crime problems. We’ll put a name to the problem.
All these and more - including an 80 minute interview with Senator Sharon Hewitt - in the works for our community.
