An Invitation to Archbishop Aymond To Stand With Us Outside Second Line Brewery
This Thursday evening, 26 October, from 5:00 till the sun sets
Dear Archbishop Aymond…
And priests of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, all religious associates and members of religious orders…
Everyone in any and all faithful associations with the Archdiocese…
And citizens, religious or secular, of any denomination or faith, who feel discomforted that a community-based brewery vets its customers, denying Catholic nuns and their friends of service; citizens who oppose enforced speech as a condition for service; citizens who believe a peaceful deportment while appropriately gathered in a space like a brewery meets the basic standard for acceptance and should not be denied.
Please join me - and Archbishop Aymond - Thursday night as I/we collect donations of diapers and dollars to benefit ACCESS Pregnancy Centers.
From 5:00 till the sun sets. Please come by and offer your support.
The BEC received this message from a thoughtful and good man. Archbishop, please take this to heart:
A house cannot long stand if its foundation fails to support it; it will surely collapse under its own weight and imperil any that dwell in it. The walls and beams of today's Catholic Church show signs of stress.
Those of us that once held the Catholic Church in high regard as a source of strength and a beacon of Truth have for these many years since Vatican II witnessed a procession of failures to adhere to a code of conduct established through our Lord Jesus Christ, his disciples, and the many martyrs that practiced enduring fidelity to God's Word under pain of death.
We faithful that find ourselves without support in the contemporary Catholic Church must, in order to remain faithful adherents to the Great Commission, find congregations that remain steadfast in rejecting the moral hazard of situationally-determined ethics.
By rejecting bigotry in the strongest terms we fulfill our Lord's command that we love one another. "Moving on from" and "putting behind us" the painful lesson of intolerance is simply an act of cowardice and undermines the strength of practicing Catholics' convictions of Faith.
In a not-so-suprising decision to attempt to protect the business end of what remains of a once vibrant faith community the Archbishop yet again proves that the moral compass of today's Catholic Church leadership is out of order.
Thankfully there remain among us courageous voices speaking Truth.
I pray for discernment, courage, and resolve in the restoration of moral clarity.
Directions:
The brewery sits in an odd spot, shoved beside railroad tracks and accessed on terrible roads. So we’ll be gathering across the tracks from Second Line, where North Bernadotte and Saint Louis Streets meet.
We’ll be just off City Park Avenue, across from Delgado Community College, on the block behind MoPho Restaurant:
Coming from City Park Avenue:
Across the street from the Delgado Main Campus, you’ll see Burger King, Ike’s Snowballs, and MoPho Restaurant. Drive alongside MoPho (Toulouse St) and turn right onto North Bernadotte Street. You’ll see us at the end of that block, where St Louis and North Bernadotte meet the railroad tracks. Park behind the shopping strip that houses the Armed Services Recruitment offices or along those roads.
MoPho is your landmark, so if you’re entering an address into a device use:
MoPho 514 City Park Avenue New Orleans 70119 (For the record, MoPho has no connection to this event; I'm simply/only using the building's location as a landmark to give directions. No association exists or is implied.)
Please come out Thursday evening and support this very worthy cause.
If you cannot join us Thursday, PLEASE DONATE HERE.
Thank you!
