A Similar Sort of Hero Makes A Statement To The BEC - Daniel Penny Pt. II
Context without commentary
As a consequence of our earlier post about Daniel Penny, the bec spoke today with a man who bears striking similarity to Daniel Penny… not only for his willingness to protect, but in physique, in his sense of service to others, in a motivation to instinctive action.
He offered this insight:
The Penny story hits close to home.
I tackled 2 gunmen in a bar. I tried to be both aggressive and merciful to the gunman. That combo got me a bullet through the chest which then lodged in a wall. That bullet could have killed an innocent girl next to me.
That day I learned a lesson. The best defense is aggressive offensive. And never “kinda” tackle someone. Anything less than 100% could get someone killed.
We’re pleased to report that this evening, Saturday, the FUND for Penny’s legal needs has reached $1.4 million. Any excess beyond the legal costs will be donated to a mental health services advocacy in New York City.
We should note the significance of the summer trial, and we will in future posts, surely.
But the insight into defense and protection - to get a glimpse of someone’s motivations in the moment…
We do pray in thanks for strong and courageous men who are …
