A Letter To Our Leftist Friends
You're Welcome Here, but This Place Just Might Not Be For You
Really, you’re totally welcome here.
As the creator of The BEC, I can assure you that everyone is welcome to view our posts and pieces. But fair warning to my Progressive friends: you’re not going to like what you read. The Big Easy Conservative isn’t made for you.
Our priorities are different, yours and ours.
That’s okay! We celebrate the right of free association, and here at this online community, we’re associating with fellow Conservatives; we’re comfortable here. We intend no harm to anyone by seeming to exclude those who disagree with us. We intend no harm to anyone, ever. We’re good-natured people in a natural and good way, with good intentions of friendship.
While you’re here, though, can we talk about an essential part of all this? If there’s just one thing that I’d like to convey to you, it’s that you mischaracterize us, you falsely describe us, especially misrepresenting our motivations. It comes off as mean-spirited, malicious, and now threatening.
No, we’re not…
We’re not “deplorable” “lizard-brained” “semi-fascist” “racists” “with whom you cannot be civil.” We’re not “in a cult”; we don’t “worship Authoritarians.” We’re not “enemies of the Constitution” who “embrace anger, thrive on chaos, and live not in the light of Truth but in the shadow of lies… lies told for profit and power.” When we look at America, we do not “see carnage and darkness and despair.” We don’t value guns over children’s lives. We do not celebrate the failure of others, or seek to undermine either election outcomes or “science.” We are not callous to the planet or to peoples’ suffering and, no, though you won’t believe me, we do not want to “control women’s bodies.”

From one warm-blooded friend to another, please “do the work,” and ease off with such rancid language about us; it helps nothing and no one. You’re harming souls and hearts when you speak of us this way. And frankly, you’re setting a self-serving Kafka Trap for us, and it’s not okay.
Much of what will be published here is a consequence of the damage done by this sort of political rhetoric. This online community exists to assuage fears, create unity and friendship, organize people and events with shared goals, and to be good neighbors.
There’s much to be joyful about!
We’ll be speaking here from the Conservative side of things. If you’re chill with that and you see us as not enemies but simply friends with whom you disagree, then please stick around.
