2023 Already Surpasses Total Homicides From 2019
Weekly Crime Report Looking Grim
A century of Democrat leadership has made this city a bucket of criminality. It’s unforgivable what politicians and civic ‘leaders’ have done to the people of New Orleans… and what those people are now doing to one another.
We are grateful to the Metropolitan Crime Commission for their great work.
As of June 25, 2023:
Homicide Victims: 129
Homicide count is up by 9 this week, including 2 vehicular (hit & run) homicides and 3 victims who succumbed to gunshot injuries sustained earlier in June.
We have surpassed the 2019 year-end total homicide count (121 vs 129 YTD in 2023).
Nonfatal Shooting Incidents: 206
There have been approximately 287 victims of nonfatal gunshot injuries in 2023, though this number is subject to change as investigations progress – in the past week, 3 victims were removed from the nonfatal injury list and added to the June 2023 homicide list.
Note: At the same time in 2022, there had been 230 shooting incidents and approximately 341 nonfatal shooting victims.
Carjacking Incidents: 85
Carjacking incidents are down 43% relative to 2022 – this is the biggest drop we have seen in any violent crime category since 2022.
Continues to coincide with a substantial (+148%) increase in auto theft.

Armed Robbery: 224
Eight robbery incidents in the past week vs. 13 the same week in 2022.
*Armed robbery continues to show a great deal of stability, except for a significant (+35%) increase relative to 2020, when the city was under COVID-19 lockdown.
In 2022, there were 1,586 reported auto thefts as of June 25th.
There have been at least 3,933 reported auto thefts to date in 2023, an increase of 148% since 2022.
While the daily auto thefts are showing some minimal downward trends, we have seen little information on recovery of stolen vehicles.
