1,029 Auto Thefts in 2023; Some Violent Crime Easing
Metropolitan Crime Commission releases weekly crime report ending 5 February
As of February 5, 2023:
Homicide victims: 29
-Four homicide victims in the past week vs. six last week
Homicide by Type
~26 homicide by shooting
1 homicide by blunt force trauma
1 homicide by strangulation
1 negligent (not counted as a “murder”)
Nonfatal shooting incidents: 49
–approximately 65 shooting victims
-10 nonfatal shooting incidents in the past week (vs 7 prior week)
Carjacking incidents: 22
-two incidents last week and 2 prior week
-down substantially compared to both 2021 and 2022
Armed Robbery: 55
-10 incidents last week vs 13 prior week
871 auto thefts officially, however, an additional 157 were “Gone On Arrivals” bringing the total for 2023 to 1,028.
We all are hoping for a calm parade season…
